Alderac no longer publishes books for the system [2] : although a series of electronic books has been released by volunteer writers through the AEG website. While the game line itself is out of print, some of the books can still be bought directly from AEG at conventions or through eBay.
Each of these books details a particular nation, expanding the culture and potential characters to be found there. There is also a lot of detail on the various non-player characters NPCs that can be found in the country as well as their secrets. Each of these books expands the information found in the Gamesmaster's book and adds several new abilities and schools for player characters. There are a few published adventures and one large city campaign.
It is published in three parts. Each of the books of the Erebus Cross also contain information on the Explorer's Society. She is very good in seduction but not in oratory to seduce someone no need talk. In this childish system Villians have every skills on this same level half one of number , no matter what this skill is.
Another matter, that for game creator fight sword or sabre or rapier is this same like with axe or spear. Shooting from firearms are this same like with bow. It is veeery cleaver and wise. See more are other matter. Heroes is not common men. But Heroism not mean stupidity like: "You can fight every martial arts in world history, even if You never see it" or "You can speak every language even dead thousend years ago".
This is not for Heroes, only for child. If some things making people with experience, they will be thinking what they do. If You read, then raed with understeanding. Yes, I can change everything, but in that way pay money for something what is useless becouse I must change everything my self, is stupidity. I have high demands from system, becouse fI spend with RPG above half live. And I not a child. For me remember rules or other things are not dificult, becouse I like it.
Swordsman School in 1st ed was great. Hers 2nd it is some joke. I have my mind, and I know what I see. The sad thing for me is, that this game creator have their own plan and realize it, dont care if this is good or not.
Only to making it for all cost. Even in D20 his creator making stats for D20 and 7th sea. Now I get only this poor 2nd ed sELL. Even in 2nd ed Warhammer 3rd is broad game, not RPG , his creator change some things, but not entire system, and they go with history future.
Here, 2nd 7th sea, change everything and beggining again from 0. So sorry but I see things like they are. Poop, even in colour package still will be poop, not chocolate. Even if someone think in other way. When i drive in luxury car 1st ed now not will be happy for chance to drive colours scrap "made in china" 2nd ed. I borrowed the hardcover book from my friend very excited to see the system and changes. I then felt the need to discuss on this forum but does anyone else feel that the "streamlined" system for 2nd edition is almost a joke?
My 1st edition character is from vodacce great with his broadsword medicore with his swordsman school with varying skill with in a varity of social skills and some points invested in botanical arts. My botanical skills presumably replaced with the generic scholar skill closest thing i See more could find so now our groups professor of various unique sciences and me will both raise the same skill and were once we had two characters that needed to rely on each others unique skills can now both declare ourselves "Scholarly" and perform each others actions.
Why use weapons that can be relieved of your person when you can punch and kick just as effectively as any great-axe wielding mad man. A personal favorite of mine a 1 point advantage "Linguist" you now speak, read, write all the languages in the game even the dead ones according to the flavor text and FYI you can buy this advantage after the start of the game.
To get this i guess my "story" would be "miraculously education" ending: learn how to speak and read every language in the world. Step: 1.
Literally something along this lines is how you justify increasing your skills. I felt like i had to get this off my chest but 7th Sea 2nd edition currently is an interesting sandbox.
It could be a good story if some more metaplot was implemented in future books. In the end it just does not feel like a game. Does anyone else feel this way? All true, that's why I am modifying the mechanics a bit in my games. The skills: example You gave with botanics. I intend to make the players choose a specialty when purchasing the Scholar skill - history, mathematics, astrology etc.
Sandbox is good name for this game and it's easy to modify stuff as You like it. This is why I gave the game 2 stars in my review. I get the idea of removing some of the ballast from a game to make it faster but instead of removing some of the math and unclear details like movement, they removed choices.
And choices are the most important part of an RPG. The book may state that "it doesn't matter what weapon a hero uses" but let us be honest: It does matter if your hero refuses to take a powerful, magical weapon to beat the villain with his father's inferior sword which would be a signature weapon here and therefore superior.
And the treatment of the swordsman schools are just insulting. Generally, I would use this book's lore and then apply it to the rules of first edition. There is a lot of good in the book, but I personally played for a full playground and not a sandbox that came with hardly any sand and no toys in it. However, despite it seemingly missing the game part of a Role Playing Game I decided to try it out. I personally love the difference and so by my players.
There is much less game but I also play board games with my group and we get our tactical itches scratched that way.
But having played 7th sea I think the balance of rules is actually perfect for role playing. There are still enough rules in places that it provides a structure do build the role playing on, but not so many that you need to break from the game to play a different game to get back to the game. Overall, it used to be maybe once a month that the stars would align and we would have epic moments in our games, but with 7th sea we find it happened all night long.
We will miss GURPS and it will always hold a place in our hearts but I think this is what we were really after all along and just didn't See more know it. I'm sure its not for everyone, but maybe you should give it a shot. You might be surprised. I was. July 28, am UTC. Why is there no Print-on-Demand option available for this title yet?
Does anyone in here know? That's because there probably won't be a Print on Demand option. Wick and Co. Afterward, they will be selling them on their site and probably a few other shops. July 21, pm UTC. I should point out that this game is not politically correct. It's based on stereotypes of various European nations, and no attempt has been made to disguise that.
If that kind of thing makes you uncomfortable, steer clear. What kind of things exaclty could make someone uncomfortable? Everyone knows those are stereotypes or rather how others view a particular nation. Those main nation traits help new players a lot.
